David Cohen brings over 15 years of experience working as a licensed clinical social worker, AODA counselor and clinical director.  He is nationally recognized as part of the comprehensive opioid response team. He is skilled at establishing evidenced based clinical programming and treating dual disorders.

He is dedicated to the provision of quality care for individuals, couples, and families suffering from addiction, eating disorders or other mental illness. His approach to healing is holistic and he utilized a multitude of therapeutic techniques to promote lifelong recovery.

David served as the Vice President of Substance Use and Co-Occurring disorders at Insight Behavioral Health. Prior to that he served Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation as both a therapist and clinical director. He also taught Master’s level social work students in addiction treatment at Loyola University.  Cohen speaks regularly on the topics of substance use disorders, addiction and mental illness in professional and consumer-facing circles alike, including several appearances on local and national broadcast outlets.

He earned his Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois.

David is a compassionate and experienced therapist, interventionist, educator, recovery coach, program developer and director who has an extensive track record of helping people to engage in the process of recovery from addiction and mental illness.
